Qore Episode 31 – LittleBigPlanet 2, Dead Space 2, Bulletstorm and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

December’s episode of Qore features highly anticipated games that span a wide range of video game genres. From the extensive new playground that is LittleBigPlanet 2 to strategic dismemberment of Dead Space 2, December’s Episode 31 is stuffed with hit titles for your holiday enjoyment presented in full 720p.

Spanning the Globe

An extensive tour of LittleBigPlanet 2 leads off Episode 31. The developers at Media Molecule have filled the LBP2 sandbox full of lots of sweet new toys and Veronica takes a close up look at several of our favorites. Watch. Enjoy. Repeat.

Freaking Veronica

Veronica is so not a fan of survival horror. That’s why the Qore team sent her to cover Dead Space 2 because nothing is more fun than watching your host get creeped out by just the idea of Necromorphs. DS2 Art Director Ian Milham dissects the gory details behind their ever-evolving technique to find new ways to shock and horrify Ms. Belmont (and the rest of us).

Cliffy B’s Reign

Crazy guns, a high tech lasso and extra style points for creative kills make Bulletstorm a must-play choice for folks who like their shooters on the extreme side. Along with sweet-looking gameplay, Epic Games’ Design Director Cliff Bleszinski talks about “putting the fun back into the first person shooter.”

Chase ‘em Down

Audrey Cleo takes us through Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. The Electronic Arts racer returns with the cops geared up in exotic high-performance rides to chase down the speedsters in Seacrest County.

As for DLC, we were hoping to announce a highly anticipated demo in time for this week’s episode release, but we are not able to reveal this yet. We’ll have more details later this month, sorry for the delay.

Look for Episode 31 later today.

Qore Episode 30 – Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Tron: Evolution, God of War: Ghost of Sparta and a Visit with My Chemical Romance

With the holiday calendar flying by faster than Ezio Auditore free running across rooftops in Firenze, November’s Episode 30 focuses on the fantastic fun you don’t want to miss this holiday season.

Of course, first up, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is this episode’s lead story and in our preview Veronica Belmont spends some hands-on time with the game and talks to Ubisoft Missions Director, Gaelic Simard about this vastly expanded environment including vistas of Renaissance Rome in High Def along with the very cool game mode allowing players to recruit and deploy a posse of up and coming assassins.

With Kratos coming back to your PSP system in the new God of War: Ghost of Sparta tomorrow, Veronica sharpens her Blades of Athena to slice and dice her way through another larger-than-life God of War adventure. Game Director Dana Jan explains the development team’s approach to maintaining the grand scale and epic gameplay of a God of War title on the PSP system.

And, yes, it does play large.

Qore also went behind-the-scenes of the ‘God of War: Game Directors Live’ production. This historic event brought together the development leads of the five God of War titles for a roundtable covering the evolution of the franchise. Audrey Cleo’s reports from the event with interviews of David Jaffe, Cory Barlog, Ru Weerasuriya, Stig Asmussen, and, again, Dana Jan along with a sneak peek of the finished discussion. Very cool.

“Planetary (Go!)”, a track from the upcoming album by My Chemical Romance has been selected as the opening song for Gran Turismo 5. Audrey Cleo hangs with the band as they get their hands on the game and they talk about making the new album, driving fast cars and the thrill of having their song chosen for the game!

With the new TRON: Legacy, the motion picture, and TRON: Evolution, the video game, rolling out during this holiday season, Qore catches up with Steven Lisberger the writer/director of the original movie along with Legacy Producer, Sean Bailey and Game Director, Darren Hedges to explore how the movie and game work together to expand (and maybe explain?) the full sci-fi universe of TRON.

In the two years since the release of Bethesda Softworks’ critically acclaimed Fallout 3, the team has been hard at work creating their latest post-nuke romp, Fallout: New Vegas. If big guns, mutants, warring factions and gambling are your thing, check out Veronica’s visit with Senior Producer, Jason Bergman, for an in-depth preview of what’s next in the Fallout franchise. Developer Blue Castle Games, has taken mowing down zombies to a whole new level in Capcom’s, Dead Rising 2. This thriller is packed with enough parasite infested ghouls and innovative ways to take ‘em out to satisfy even the most discriminating survival horror fan. One of the sequel’s cool new features allows players to slip into a maintenance room and duct tape up their own crazy tools of destruction.

In Qore’s look at Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Veronica Belmont chats with Ninja Theory’s, “Chief Creative Ninja” for an under-the-hood look at the developer’s approach to story-telling and production design. Best known for their PS3 launch title, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Theory has created a lush vibrant universe for Enslaved along with a storyline centered on the symbiotic relationship between the game’s two main characters, Trip and Monkey. Qore Episode 27: Kane & Lynch 2, Splatterhouse, TerRover and Kyoto, Japan

For the follow up to 2007’s Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, developer IO Interactive has decided to present the sequel from Lynch’s point of view. So what’s it like seeing the world through the eyes of a warped psychopath? About what you would expect—disturbing and occasionally disorienting. Qore presents a sneak peek at the frantic action, including a preview of the popular online “Fragile Alliance” mode.

Namco’s 1988 arcade game, Splatterhouse, attracted a bit of controversy for its violent nature. In fact, in those pre-ESRB days, the home console version was released with an “inappropriate for young children…and cowards” warning on the box. The next-gen reboot of the franchise isn’t shying away from controversy either—we almost couldn’t show it to you! Audrey Cleo spoke to Namco’s producer about what it took to bring Rick back to life.

Amidst the pomp and circumstance that is E3, Veronica Belmont and the Qore team made it a point to search for great games that might have gotten lost in the crowd. TerRover is just such a game. Don’t let the cartoonish design and colorful visual style fool you—as with most classic games, this one will be easy to learn but difficult to master .

In the latest installment of “On the road with Qore,” Veronica visits Kyoto, Japan—home to historic temples and shrines and a world-famous manga museum. Very cool stuff. She also pays a visit to the famous snow monkeys who are perfect for making Kyoto-inspired PlayStation 3 cover designs using the interactive Box Creator. And, some of our favorite Osaka-inspired creations are displayed in this episode. Is your submission one of them?

If our TerRover coverage has captured your interest, why not take the little rover for a test drive in our early-access exclusive demo? All single episode purchasers and subscribers will be able to sample five of the more than 40 different levels to be found in the complete game. Our download center also features a PS3 Splatterhouse theme available to everyone.

Look for Episode 27 later today.

TerRover Demo Comes to Qore Tomorrow

Hello, PlayStation World! I’m back to share our most exciting news of the year. We’re thrilled to let you know about our upcoming PlayStation Network exclusive, TerRover. We’ve been working hard on this one for a while, and we’re eager to let you get your hands on it and discover the engaging gameplay for yourselves.

TerRover

You can do just that with the free demo of TerRover available with both versions of Qore tomorrow. Plus, you can watch the (hopefully not-embarrassing) interview with me at E3, chatting it up with Veronica about why the game is so much fun.

The TerRover is a cute little robot buggy with a big smile and warm heart in need of your help to find a new planetary home for him and his friends. The TerRover’s controls aren’t quite like anything else out there. His head slides back and forth across his body as you change direction. One button press places his head under his body to turn him over. And most importantly, the left stick lets you pivot your TerRover up and down from either end. You’ll need to master this skill in order to save the TerRover population!

TerRover

TerRoverTerRover

You get weapons and tools, too. Choose from various chassis equipped with rocket launchers, magnet cables and more. They’ll come in handy in tight spots, and assist in collecting all the mechanical parts scattered about and discovering the numerous secret areas and hidden passages. You’ll find yourself aching to come back and explore every inch of every level.

We’re very eager here at Creat Studios to find out what you all think of our newest game. Sony Online Entertainment has been incredibly supportive, and they’ve helped us make the best game we can. As always… a big, big thank you to all of our fans out there. We simply could not what we love without you. Please drop by our website, check us out on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter, as we want to know what you think.
