Home Mansion Expands, New PixelJunk Content Arrives + Weekly Update

This Thursday, March 3rd, PlayStation Home welcomes the second expansion to the Home Mansion. This week, everyone will be able to get their hands on the Second Floor with Game Room. Like the previous parts of the Mansion, it comes complete with its own gift machine, ready to hook up your friends with a handful of glittering gold items. Unique to this floor, it comes with its own pool table and dart game.
Landing the same week as PixelJunk Shooters 2 on PSN, PixelJunk is bringing new content to Home related to sister titles, PixelJunk Monsters and PixelJunk Racers. Included are a variety of fun racecar suits for men and trackside attire for the ladies, and to decorate your pad Monster-style, there are more than twenty furniture items, including cute miniature trees and various miniature characters from the game. Head to the PixelJunk Home space tomorrow to check it all out.
From our own collections, this week we bring several wild outfits. Whether you’re into Mech, Battlesuits, or Desert-style camo, you’re bound to want these.
Lockwood is introducing a new brand line. Figment is about being able to stride confidently into any party, room or restaurant knowing you look great. But most of all, Figment is about imagination and the ability to combine separates in ways you hadn’t considered before to produce even more incredible looks and outfits. You may find Figment in the Mall, starting tomorrow.
And last but not least, the Home Community Theater is being updated this Thursday with a couple new videos. First up is HipHopGamer’s newest video, where he enthusiastically reviews Killzone 3. If you stick around for the whole episode, you’ll be granted some blinged-out swag that represent the way only HipHopGamer could before. Spring Fever Heats Up With PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Award Winners

PlayStation Network is feeling the fever…Spring Fever! That’s right, just like in past years, PlayStation Network will celebrate exceptional games during Spring Fever — one of our biggest annual events. Starting next Tuesday, March 8, you’ll be able to find hot PS3 and PSP games at deep discounts and new featured PS3 releases, all downloadable on the PlayStation Store.
This year, however, we’ve added a new twist. As you know, we just concluded voting for our first-ever PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards, which gave you the chance to vote for your favorite game in four different categories. We’re still in the midst of tallying the final scores, but we’ll be back here on March 7 to announce the winners and kick-off the first week of Spring Fever featuring the winning games on sale at a 30% discount in the PlayStation Store and available for a 50% discount to PlayStation Plus subscribers.
And remember, it doesn’t stop there. Following the one-week sale of our Gamers’ Choice Award winners, we will bring you one new major PS3 release along with a pair of great discounted games each week. PlayStation Home to Add Suite of New Developer Tools and Tech with Version 1.5

Today, at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, we lifted the veil on PlayStation Home’s version 1.5, which will be coming to your PS3s in early spring. The update will introduce a suite of new technology with tools that will enhance your experience with real-time multiplayer, improved physics, as well as more realistic graphics and animations. PlayStation Home v1.5 was developed with one singular goal in mind: high-quality games. Developers will utilize the improved network mechanics to bolster the multiplayer experience with the fastest action available. With the revamped physics engine, developers will carry more control over physics elements, graphics, rendering and animations, which will translate to more realistic and more intricate game experiences.
This update is significantly different from what you, the PlayStation Home community, have come to expect from past core client updates. While versions 1.3 and 1.4 brought user-facing features like Voice Chat, Cross Game Invites, Navigation Improvements, In-Store Previews, New Item Types (such as Active Items and Companions), Optimized Load Times and Universal Game Launching, PlayStation Home v1.5 is packed with tools and features that will enable developers to expand the types of games possible on the platform – from first-person shooters with real-time, peer-to-peer multiplayer to kart racers and more. These new developer tools also allow for richer graphics and an overall improvement to frame-rate, which is something on top of everyone’s wish list.
The proof, as they say, is in the pudding – which is why we want to take this opportunity to show you how PlayStation Home v1.5 will impact your in-world experience. Behold SodiumTwo, the follow up to Lockwood Publishing’s massively successful tank combat game, Sodium One. The game, which is scheduled for release in conjunction with the 1.5 update, takes advantage of v1.5 and features heavily customizable jets squaring off in fast action multiplayer races at supersonic speeds. PixelJunk Shooter 2 Hits PSN Today With New Online Battle Mode

So, the wait is over. The sequel to the technically and critically acclaimed PixelJunk Shooter will be with us later today! It continues where the original left off, leaving you trapped in the deep dark bowels of an enormous alien entity. Fight through the backwash and encounter the weird and terrible monsters that are living in the alien’s gut, force your way through putrid stomach acid and strange slippery bubbly stuff, and be totally grossed out by thousands of iddy-biddy insects that come pouring out of strange pulsating larvae when you mix water with it.
Yes, this is a game you probably want to avoid playing immediately after eating, and you might feel a little queasy the next time you are staring down Sparrow-on-a-stick (a Kyoto traditional cruisine).
But wait… PixelJunk Shooter 2 isn’t all about dieting and worm control! It has vast new worlds to explore that aren’t part of an organism’s digestive track, and new technologies too, such as the Hungry Suit and the Light Suit and a whole load more. Use the new R3 spin-attack to wipe out chains of enemies at a time and revel in the destructive mayhem you can dish out with the upgraded charged missile! But all this wanton damage is in a good cause as those survivors still need rescuing and only YOU can save them!
On top of all this fun, we have added a completely new online versus mode which I have gone over in a previous post, but let me tell you, it’s just oozing with “addictability”, with twenty unique wonderful weapons to earn and use in the battles I really hope everyone gives it a go. It’s not overly aggressive and is a bit of cute cat-and-mouse fun, so even those PixelJunk fans out there who have never played online before, I urge you to give it a few tries (besides, one of the trophies requires you to go up at least one league in the online mode so that should be a good enough lure).
Anyway, I shouldn’t keep you too long, you’ve got PSN wallets to fill and Shooter 2s to download! See you online! (my ID’s PixelMeister so if you encounter me in your league battling, be kind and let me destroy you!)

Hi All! New publisher alert and many more highlights in this week’s comic update.
New publisher alert part 2! This week we are delighted to welcome another great publisher on board: Zenescope. Zenescope has created one of the fastest growing libraries of original content and has brought an exciting new feel to the world of graphic novels – and of fairy tales… with a twist! Adapted from the famous TV Series, Charmed #1 brings Phoebe, Paige and Piper back to embrace a new life… and new enemies. Grimm Fairy Tales is a gripping series retelling the most well-known and beloved childhood tales with very modern heroines – through reality and fairy tale, and good and evil. Another great tale is revisited in Neverland – a land that has changed dramatically and where good and evil are not what they seem. If you missed it last week, I would like to highlight once again Devil’s Due Digital. Devil’s Due Digital is a collaboration of the team at Checker Book Publishing Group & Devil’s Due Publishing, and together they are offering an immense library of talent including Clive Barker, Johnny Hart, Tim Seeley and Alan Moore. They brought us the much loved Hack/Slash last week, and this week it’s the no-less impressive Clive Barker’s Hellraiser! Experience horror as only Clive Barker knows it, with the adaptation of one of the most popular horror movie series of all time. Final NASA Shuttle Launch is First Live-Streaming Event in PlayStation Home + Weekly Update

This Thursday, February 24th PlayStation Home and LOOT will be hosting a very special live event. Beginning at 1:50 pm Pacific Time (4:50 pm Eastern) a live stream of the final liftoff of Space Shuttle Discovery will be broadcast on the new NASA TV Channel of the LOOT Sunset Yacht (formerly known as the Amaterasu), a premium personal space available from the LOOT store in the PlayStation Home Mall. Be a part of history and watch as the last Discovery launch becomes the first live-streaming event featured in PlayStation Home!
You’ll notice when you visit the Sunset Yacht that this mega-popular personal space has received more than just a name change and an updated program guide on the built-in TV. Beginning this Thursday, February 24th, the Sunset Yacht will live up to its new name by offering owners the ability to set the time of the day while cruising the high seas—a first for PlayStation Home!
Digital Leisure is bringing even more fun Space Ace items come this Thursday, February 24th – including male and female clothing items and furniture that will delight all fans of this classic game.
The PlayStation Home Mall receives an update this week with new furniture, clothing, and active items – including new several animated pieces of jewelry, and gold, platinum and crystal furniture items.
Starting this Thursday, you will be able to purchase one, two, and seven-day rental passes to play all 50 levels of the hit SodiumOne Salt Shooter Game. If you have not taken the chance to test your skills, here is the perfect opportunity.
To celebrate this new way to play, Lockwood Publishing will be doubling the amount of Gold, Silver and Silicon available in game for all valid rental ticket and Sodium Pilot Outfit holders for the next seven days! More resources mean even more Sodium Credits to use at the VICKIE shop.
The Home Community Theater is being updated this Thursday with the first full episode of the exclusive LittleBigPodcast series. In episode 1, hosts Austin and Daniel interview John Beech from Media Molecule (the amazing LBP2 level designer) as well as the mysterious “Laptop Guy.” See you there!

PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards 2011 – Voting Opens Today!

Last week, we announced the new PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards, complete with a great line up of nominees in four different categories. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to peruse the nominated games because today we open up the voting to all of you! We’re looking for your opinions on which games are truly the best.
Make your way over to the PlayStation Store today and cast your vote for the best games – Best PS3 Downloadable Game, Best PSP Downloadable Game, Best PS3/PSP Mini, and Best PSN Exclusive Game. Each time you vote you’ll download a new PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards XMB theme, but be aware that you are limited to one vote per category—so make it count!
When the voting ends on March 1, we’ll start tallying up the scores and announce the winners here on March 7. The next day, we’ll kick off the annual Spring Fever sale with the PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards 2011 winners, where you’ll have the chance to buy the winning games at a discount.
