Hi everyone, here’s a peek at what’s being offered next week for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Also, moving forward, we’ll be providing these updates on free, exclusive and discounted PlayStation Plus items roughly 2 weeks in advance. So look for another update next Wednesday for the September 21 publish of PlayStation Plus content.
Next week we will have a full game trial for the multiplayer classic, Warhawk. Download the full game trial and take to land and air in an all out war between the Eucadian and Chernovan armies. Also, get an early sneak peek at the newest God of War title, God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Answers will be revealed for the events between God of War and God of War II in Kratos’s newest PSP adventure.

This Week in PlayStation Home: Brimstone Poker, PlayStation Move Event, Kane and Lynch 2 and More

This week we bring yet another classic game into the ever-evolving world of PlayStation Home. Brimstone Poker — a devilishly fun version of Texas Hold ‘Em, plucked from the deepest, darkest depths of Sin City — is the newest addition to the line of games custom-made to be placed in the personal spaces of your choice. Invite your friends over for poker night, throw some cards, and unlock special rewards. Brimstone Poker is available Thursday, September 2nd from the Exclusives store in the PlayStation Home Mall, and will be receiving additional updates in the near future (including a tournament mode).
Also coming to PlayStation Home this week is the hotly-anticipated PlayStation Move event space. Come in first thing tomorrow morning and step up to the PlayStation Move team challenge. Play games, unlock exclusive rewards, and gear up for the release of the PlayStation Move motion controller – all in the special PlayStation Move event space, available only in PlayStation Home.
We’re pleased to announce that IO Interactive’s gritty third-person shooter — Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days — is coming into PlayStation Home. Pick up the heap of Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days clothing and furniture items from the PlayStation Home Mall when they release this Thursday. While you are at it, head to the Sodium store to load up on the Lockwood “trance lights” (which are sure to turn your personal space into the premier party pad) then shoot over to Threads to pick up the brand new Top Gun gear (including Maverick’s bomber jacket) and the MAG SVER items (costumes and furniture — stay tuned for items for the Raven and Valor factions).

Digital Comics Store Update

Hi Everyone – Here is this week’s update for the digital comics store on the PSP. There are now over 2000 comics to choose from!
Highlights include:
- The magnificent 2004-vintage Captain America continues with the action packed 3-issue Time’s Arrow arc (#43-#45), featuring World War II flashbacks with Cap, Bucky, the Black Widow and the Human Torch. Best of all, we get the return of Batroc the Leaper! The series continues with Old Friends and Enemies featuring an old ally, Prince Namor.
- IDW’s Castlevania: The Belmont Legacy is a 5-part story based on the smash hit video game series. While Christopher Belmont celebrates his nuptials, dark forces conspire to raise Count Dracula from his unholy slumber.
- Haven is a brand new title from the Markosia stable, featuring a new kind of kick-ass heroine who single-handedly takes on the minions of the underworld. The Dante family line has been in the fires of an ancient war between humanity and the nine circles of hell for generations. As a self-proclaimed “Aristocracy”, the circles have now set their sights on the one chosen to fight the raging war …Haven Irena Dante. But soon after the tragic death of her mother, Haven endures the vile theft of her innocence and disappears. No one has seen or heard from her in two years… Until now.
- Second issues of Starcraft, Jeff Smith’s award-winning Bone, his stark sci-fi series RASL, Zuda’s The Hammer and Markosia’s brilliant Raising Amy are now available

PlayStation Network Regular Scheduled Maintenance

Maintenance is expected to start at just after midnight Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 12:30pm Pacific. During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store or Account Management, and may encounter difficulty while signing in to PSN.

Digital Comics Store Update

Here’s this week’s PlayStation Store Digital Comics update.
We begin with a comic based on the acclaimed and hugely popular video game Starcraft! And it’s even free! Yes. This sizzling sci-fi action comic, set just before the events of Starcraft II, follows the War Pigs, a disbanded team of shady outlaws reunited for one last mission. Follow this intriguing bunch of characters as they cross paths with zergs, special Cerebus units, protoss, and other familiar Starcraft characters… and events. You can read more about the comic and all the thinking that went behind it in this interview of writer Simon Furman. In the meantime, make sure you get your free copy while it lasts!
But that’s not all, if you’re more of a horror and infected towns kind of person, or if you simply happen to like Silent Hill we have the perfect comic for you! All five issues of Silent Hill: Dying Inside are coming to PlayStation Network today. And it’s not just the setting that’s good – the comic itself was so popular that the first two issues sold out in record time, and it is completely justified: written by NY Times bestselling author Scott Ciencin, with art by Ben Templesmith (too many good comics to list – but Wormwood fans here know what I mean) and Aadi Salman, and a suitably chilling and gripping story to boot. It’s just as good as it sounds.
And because big cities look just as nice infected, join a group of outcasts fighting Coney Island’s zombie infestation in We Will Bury You #4. Awesome comic featuring zombies on fire and a very good audio piece by writers Brea and Zane Grant.
Also out in the store this week is a slice of vintage comic goodness with Journey Into Mystery (1952) #83 to #86. Issue #83 sees Stan Lee introduce the mighty Thor for the very first time; he has famously said that comic books were the mythology of modern days, and therefore set out to create this god-like new hero… Check out his vision here!
And finally you can also pick up issue #1 of new series Raising Amy, the adventures of a little girl with a very big attitude (you’ll see). Officially “born to be wild”, Amy is a bit of a terror but it’s safe for you readers – just sit back and laugh with this very funny comic strip.

AlphabeTees Coming this Thursday to PlayStation Home + the Best of the PlayStation Home Community!

Last week we offered you a preview of a brand new game known as AlphabeTees – a social trivia game exclusive to PlayStation Home. The reaction from the community was, to say the least, incredibly positive. Your overwhelming enthusiasm is the reason why it brings us such pleasure to announce that AlphabeTees will be releasing this Thursday into the wide world of PlayStation Home.
AlphabeTees takes the standard trivia game to a whole new level. Think: Scrabble (or a crossword puzzle) that requires teamwork, with you and your friends using clothing to answer VeeMee’s trivia questions. Here’s a quick overview of the AlphabeTees game play:
- Buy the AlphabeTees Game Pack from Central Plaza (or Threads in the PlayStation Home Mall).
- Look out for questions on the Central Plaza Jumbotron screen.
- Find friends who own the AlphabeTees game pack.
- Solve the question by lining up with your friends and spelling out the answer using the AlphabeTees shirts.
- Take a photo of you and your friends spelling out the answer using your PlayStation Home camera.
- Upload your photo at the AlphabeTees game point in Central Plaza (simply go to the AlphabeTees kiosk, open the browser, and upload your photo!).
- Keep your eyes on the Central Plaza Jumbotron, where the winning photos will be displayed the day after the question has been posted.
To get everyone started, VeeMee will be giving away a sample pack of 5 letters from the AlphabeTees game pack to all members of the PlayStation Home community. Get yours this Thursday, August 26th from the AlphabeTees game point in Central Plaza.
We’ve been seeing a lot of people turning into crime-fighting guardians of the community (and even a few nefarious archnemeses) ever since we released the first round of our PlayStation Home Superheroes and Supervillains costume packs last week. This week, we add some new characters into the mix – Captain Inflame-O, Sandman, and The Cyborg. Add these characters to your collection by visiting the Costumes store in the PlayStation Home Mall this week (while you are there, be sure to check the Sodium store for updates – a full list of content can be found under the Latest Update tab in your Menu Pad come Thursday morning).

Dungeon Defenders: Coming to PSN with Move & 3D Support

“Welcome brave heroes to the dungeons of Etheria!”
Or so says the “Spirit of Champions”, your tour guide in Dungeon Defenders, the new swords-and-sorcery action game coming to PSN this winter! Let me introduce you to the basics of what DunDef (as we affectionately call it) is all about. Inspired by the cooperative antics of Castle Crashers, along with the careful interplay of strategy and tactics in Defense of the Ancients, DunDef is a definitive genre hybrid: cooperative tower defense and online role-playing action bonanza!
Whether you’re playing locally (in one-to-four player split-screen) or online (which also supports split-screen), DunDef puts you in control of one of four unique Hero classes, tasked with defending your ‘Eternia Crystals’ against increasing waves of ‘toon-fantasy baddies.’ To achieve this you’ll upgrade your Hero’s statistics, develop unique new abilities, and collect & upgrade an arsenal of weapons & equipment, and even raise your own pets.
At any point you choose to, you can decimate the tide of creatures spewing forth from the ‘Creep Spawners” when building your defenses across the map. Unlike most tower defense games, however, you won’t just sit back and watch your defenses annihilate your foes. In DunDef, you jump directly into the action, and hack up tons of enemies with your beefed-up hero alongside your allies. Among the variety of enemy types (with their various attacks & behaviors), are huge mini and full on boss monsters arriving to support their cannon-fodder minions.
There’s lots more we’d love to tell you about, including the intricacies of each Hero class, the powerful upgrading system & the Mana Bank, and the various game modes including a campaign, survival and challenge missions. All in good time… for now, we should also mention that the game fully supports Sony’s awesome 3D TV (stereoscopic) technology, and the PlayStation Move for an immersive experience!
